Now for A quick Q&A with Tony!

Q: How long have you been a craftsman?

A: I started doing carpentry work when I was 15 by making custom skate boards for my friends. Over the past four decades, I have continued to work with my hands designing and building useful items, rebuilding cars & boats and helping others improve spaces in their homes.

Tony’s Rustic Farm Table

Q: What is one of your favorite client projects you've worked on?

A: One of my favorite projects was a dining room table with benches. The client wanted a table that looked “country chic” and semi-distressed. I wanted to use a high quality wood that would be durable and didn’t show marks if the table was used to write on; I wanted the table to hold up under years of use. So, I chose Ambrosia Maple for the table top. This species of wood is a very hard durable wood with small imperfections that are created naturally by fungus. The areas affected by the fungus absorb stain more readily than the surrounding wood. When I applied a grey stain, it created a wonderful distressed look with a lot of contrasting colors. The end result was a table that looked rugged and weathered with the “country chic” vibe the client was looking for.

Q: What unique skills do you bring to the Elephant Organizing team?

A: I have a deep understanding and experience with how things work mechanically. I can find creative and practical solutions for many of our client’s challenges.

Q: What are the kinds of projects you can help clients with?

A: I can help with simple tasks like hanging pictures, art, TVs, assembling furniture after a move or to build a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or fixture to meet a specific client need.

Q: How do you work with professional Organizers?

A: The organizers bring their skills and organizational processes to help improve a client's space. Sometimes that requires a physical change to the space to bring organization to life. Beyond the heavy lifting & moving of large, cumbersome items, I work with the organizers to assemble, repair, correct, attach or create organizational items.

Q: Have you always been a carpenter?

A: No, I spent 30 years in the Army as an Engineer. Throughout my time in the military I continued to fix, create and build.

Q: Do you limit your work to only organizing clients?A: No. Although many of my clients needed organizing services, I also help clients who need craftsman, carpentry, or handy services. Q: Is there any work you don’t do?

A: I leave the major construction, demolition or renovations to licensed contractors who have the teams and industrial equipment to accomplish those large jobs. I focus my work on the areas where clients need a specific item created or space improvements that are too small for contract companies to consider.
